Yearlong consists of monthly events during the academic year following a week of Troy Camp, which serve as reunions of camp for all the campers and counselors. The events change every month, each one serving a different purpose. Through Yearlong, the relationships between campers and counselors are furthered, being the true beginning of the long-term aspect of Troy Camp’s mentorship. All events consist of cabin time and lunch with the campers, as well as one large group activity. Some of the events take place on the USC campus, in which we recreate a day of Camp or host a carnival, while for others we go off campus to places such as the Aquarium of the Pacific and Disneyland. There are events within Yearlong known as “Super Cabin Events” where cabins from the past 3 years of Troy Camp reunite to hang out with each other and see their counselors. Like camp, all events are completely free!
The purpose of Yearlong is to continue and grow the long-term mentorship relationship that Troy Camp aims to facilitate. The campers spend an amazing week at Camp; however, Yearlong is truly where the lifelong friendships that Troy Camp is based around foster and grow. Here the campers not only get to hang out with their cabin counselors but also with their cabin, color team, and new counselors!
